Your Hosts
Rob McEwen is a native New Zealander who travelled extensively for 3 years and spent another 19 years in Austin, Texas where he founded a marketing agency that serviced high-tech clients. In July, 2002, Rob & Becky decided it was time to begin a new chapter in their lives and moved to Taupo to complete work on Tauhara Sunrise. Rob's passions include wine, music and fishing. He has begun developing his cellar, featuring primarily New Zealand and Australian wines. He has an extensive CD collection and is building his collection of music DVD's. And, while very much in the early stages of developing his fly-fishing skills, he has been bitten by the fishing bug and sneaks off to the rivers at every available opportunity (he can even take you to some of the local fishing spots, time permitting, though in no way does he claim to be a guide.) He has also been known to accompany guests on fishing trips to act as photographer for the day, armed with a 5
mega pixel Sony digital with 20x zoom, and a waterproof 2 mega pixel Sony digital for those spur-of-the-moment action shots.
Becky McEwen is from Austin, Texas, where five generations of her family still live. She worked in mortgage banking for 15 years and in her spare time, she and her mother catered weddings and other small events. In 2000, Becky retired from the mortgage industry and following her passion, trained to become a massage therapist at the Lauterstein Conway School of Massage in Austin. Becky's warm Texan personality and her massage skills ensure a relaxing stay for guests at Tauhara Sunrise, while her culinary skills produce taste delights for breakfasts, hors d'oevres and dinners.
